Body weight changes, exercise, and stress can all alter menstrual flow, causing light periods. Periods that are lighter than usual are not normally a cause for concern. People often find that their menstrual flow varies from month to month, and some months are simply lighter than others.
Light periods or spotting instead of a period is also a sign of excess stress. This stress can be physical, meaning: too much exercise, strict dieting, or severe illness.
Some people feel dizzy or lightheaded during their period. However, this is not a typical menstrual cycle symptom. It may indicate an underlying issue, such as anemia or heavy bleeding. Sometimes, the dizziness that a person experiences has no connection to their period, and the timing is merely coincidental.
Clear, sticky discharge can happen any time during the menstrual cycle and is not a cause for concern. Clear discharge can be an indication of ovulation and pregnancy, but may also happen during periods of sexual excitement, during menopause, and even when exercising.
A period that seems light is usually not a cause for concern. However, it can sometimes be a sign of hormonal shifts or certain medical conditions. Most people experience a natural fluctuation in their menstrual periods from time to time. It can happen with stress, weight loss or gain, or changes in birth control.
ing to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics, a light bleed is anything less than 5 ml, which is less than a tablespoon. Light bleeding is also generally associated with a shorter duration of 1 to 2 days.
A Missed Period and Light Bleeding If your period is late or doesnt come at all, you may be pregnant. But newly pregnant womenone-third to be exactmay have whats called implantation bleeding, or bleeding that is lighter, shorter and spottier than a regular period.
