If you are running Word2010/2013/2016/2019/Microsoft 365, follow the steps here: Launch Microsoft Word and enter the necessary password. Navigate to File Info Protect Document Encrypt with password. Now, when the new window pops out, delete the password and click OK to open this encrypted Word file.
To unlock a Word document, open the file, click File Info Protect Document, and select Encrypt with Password. If you know the password, enter it and click OK. If you dont know the password, you can try using Google Docs or specialized password recovery software to unlock the document.
Step 1: Open the password-protected Word file. Step 2: Go to Review Protect Restrict Editing. Step 3: By turning off Restrict Editing, Word will ask for your password from you, and after you enter it, it will unprotect your file.
Unlock a protected document On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click Restrict Editing. In the Restrict Editing task pane, click Stop Protection.
Removing a password from a document is a simple process, but you have to know the original password. Open the document and enter its password. Go to File Info Protect Document Encrypt with Password. Clear the password in the Password box, and then click OK.
Heres a quick guide: Access the Open dialogue box: Open Word and click the File tab in the top-left corner. Then choose Open. Look for the encrypted document: In the dialogue box, find the document you want to recover. Pick a recovery method: Youll be offered three options Repair, Extract Data, or Cancel.
3. How to disable the protected view feature Click the File tab from the top banner. Select Options. Choose Trust Center from the left-hand menu. Press Trust Center Settings. Select Protected View. Uncheck the three options under Protected View. Click OK.
Information Click File - Properties. Click the Security tab. Click Change Settings, enter the password. Select Security Method = No Security.
