hey everybody thats Juanita McDowell from emotion want to do a quick tutorial on how to change or lets say delete the page number on the first page of your Microsoft Word document Im in 2010 let me show you how to do this youre actually going to as you can see you may have patient numbers in your documents you just dont want it to show up on the first page and theres a quick way to change that go ahead and go to your page Layout tab here at the front at the top and what youll see is youll see the page setup group click on your dialogue launcher theyre going to take you to another dialog box and I want you to go to the Layout tab and click on under headers and footers different first page and thats really all you need to do you can always when you click on that and say ok you can always change the header and footer on the first page since youre going to have a different first page just want to show you that little quick tip as I was doing it and of course I have page two and

To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
How Do I Fix Messed-Up Page Numbers in Word? To adjust the numbering settings, go to the Insert tab, then select Page Number Format Page Numbers. From here, you can choose a number format and even include chapter information. Under Page numbering, make sure Start at is set to 1.
Start page numbering later in your document Go to Insert Header or Footer Edit Header or Edit Footer. Select Different First Page. In the header or footer area, you should see a label on the first page that says First Page Header. Select Close Header and Footer or press Esc to exit.

Headers and footers, where page numbers usually reside, are greyed out when the insertion point is in the main body of the document. This cannot be changed.
Main body pages: On the first page of Chapter 1 (or your main body text), numbering should start with the Arabic numeral 1 and continue, consecutively, for the remainder of your document.
Insert page numbers Select Insert Page Number, and then choose the location and style you want. If you dont want a page number to appear on the first page, select Different First Page. If you want numbering to start with 1 on the second page, go to Page Number Format Page Numbers, and set Start at to 0.
When page numbers are not showing up in Word, insert the page numbers into the Headers and Footers. To do that, click on the Insert tab and double-click on the Header or Footer option. Choose where you want to input the page number and press Alt + Shift + P. This is the keyboard shortcut to insert the page number.
