The short answer is yes. If you have fainted, you should see a physician or visit an emergency room right away to identify the cause of your fainting and to ensure you do not have a serious underlying condition.
Children usually awaken seconds after fainting. Most of the time fainting is nothing to worry about. Children who faint often outgrow it. But if your child faints again, tell your doctor.
In some cases, the exam may be terminated, and the remaining students may be given an opportunity to retake the exam at a later date. In other cases, the exam may continue, and the affected student will be given a grade based on their performance up until the point of the incident.
Put simply, fainting happens when there is a drop in blood flow to the brain. When the brain isnt getting the blood (and importantly, the oxygen) it needs, it causes you to lose consciousness and fall down. Fascinatingly (and perhaps counterintuitively), falling is the bodys way of trying to recover.
You will probably get sent home. If you do, and your parents ask questions, answer them honestly. In the event you hurt yourself or your faint warrants a hospital visit in an ambulance, dont worry. Other kids will most likely be concerned for your health than anything else.
If Your Child Has Just Fainted Allow him or her to stay on the ground until fully awake. This will help the blood flow back to the brain. Loosen tight clothes. If you are worried about an injury, do not move the child. Most people get better quickly after fainting. If your child is not improving, call 911.
Position the person on the back. Loosen belts, collars or other tight clothing. To reduce the chance of fainting again, dont get the person up too fast. If the person doesnt regain consciousness within one minute, call 911 or your local emergency number.
