Fainting isnamp;#39;t fun, and when itamp;#39;s happening to you, or when itamp;#39;s happening to someone else, It is scary, and it is unpleasant, and why, why do we do that? When you faint, itamp;#39;s because your nervous system went haywire, and your brain wasnamp;#39;t getting enough oxygen. A brain requires oxygen like a computer requires electricity and that oxygen is carried to your brain by blood. A lot of blood. About 750 mL of blood flowing through your head every minute. If you suddenly decrease that oxygen-rich blood flow, you get a temporary loss of consciousness known to doctors as syncope, and to the rest of us as fainting. There are lots of different, and sometimes serious medical conditions that can make someone faint, but the kind that weamp;#39;re talking about today, the kind that makes someone drop at the sight of blood, is called Vasovagal Syncope. Itamp;#39;s named after the vagus nerve, which goes from your brain all the way down through your body ending

Hyperventilation during an or intense sexual activity can reduce the amount of oxygen flowing to the brain, which may cause a person to faint.
Once an attack starts, the following are likely to happen: Loss of consciousness and falling to the ground, usually for no more than 15 seconds. Eyes remain open but roll up and back into your head.
Syncope (SINK-a-pee) is another word for fainting or passing out. Someone is considered to have syncope if they become unconscious and go limp, then soon recover. For most people, syncope occurs once in a great while, if ever, and is not a sign of serious illness.
Your field of vision may white out or black out. Your skin may be cold and clammy. You lose muscle control at the same time, and may fall down. Fainting usually happens when your blood pressure drops suddenly, causing a decrease in blood flow to your brain.
The person may see spots in front of their eyes. During this time, observers note paleness, dilated pupils, and sweating. While unconscious, the person may have low pulse rate (less than 60 beats/minute).
Many seizures look very different to fainting. However, there are two types of seizure that can easily be confused with syncope. In tonic seizures, your muscles suddenly go stiff, which means you may lose your balance and fall down. In atonic seizures your muscles lose their tone and you collapse.
There are many causes of fainting, including: tiredness, dehydration, anaemia. low blood pressure caused by some medicines or health conditions. orthostatic (postural) hypotension where your blood pressure drops if you stand up too quickly.
There are other reasons that a person may pass out, such as low blood sugar, hyperventilation, mechanical falls, or seizures. These are not syncope but are important to assess and prevent.
