After an embryo implants and establishes a connection with the mothers circulation, the hCG is released into the bloodstream. Once the hCG in the blood docHubes the kidneys, the hCG is secreted into the urine. Therefore, pregnancy tests can be done using blood or urine to determine wh ether there is hCG present. So, if you do get a faint line, Kirkham recommends waiting two or three days, then testing again. If its still faint, she suggests going to your family doctor for a blood test, which can measure the specific amount of beta hCG, to check if the pregnancy is progressing as it should.
If you saw a faint positive result and retested in a few days with a negative result (or you got your period after testing positive), you may have experienced a chemical pregnancy or early miscarriage. A chemical pregnancy means the egg was fertilized but didnt completely implant.
A test line can be faint pink if your urine is diluted or its very early in your pregnancy. Not-to-worry, though. Even a faintly pink-colored test line indicates a positive result. Simply put, if there is color on the test line, its time to check in with your doctor to confirm a pregnancy.
A barely visible pregnancy test result usually cant be negative because it detected hCG but it might indicate a false positive or an early pregnancy loss. However, false positive results that are not related to early pregnancy loss are incredibly rare.
This is because relatively large amounts of virus need to be present for the antibodies in the test to react to the viral proteins. A faint, slow-to-appear line could still represent high levels of virus, meaning that if you can see any line at all, you are still highly likely to be infectious.
A very faint line may also occur if the urine is too diluted to detect hCG. Drinking a large amount of fluid can dilute the urine and skew the results. If a faint line becomes a negative test result the second time around, it could be the result of a very early miscarriage in the first few days and weeks of pregnancy.
You may get a faint positive because youre not as far along with the pregnancy as you expected. Sperm can live inside your body for up to seven days, waiting for an egg to be released. So depending on when you ovulate, you could get pregnant up to a week after having sex.
