Now I have a general overview video if you want to get a 30,000 foot view. So watch that before this if you have no idea what youre looking at. So this video isnt meant as a substitute for a radiology report or your doctors opinion but simply as a way to educate you about your knee MRI. What do these ligaments do. Well the ACL goes in a 45 degree direction. It lives in the middle of the knee. And it prevents the tibia bone from moving forward. The PCL arches across the back of the knee and prevents the whole knee from hyper-extending. An MRI is a 3D picture that comes in three planes-- sagittal, coronal, and axial. If you look at these three planes, the coronal is a front/back plane. The sagittal is a side plane. And the axial is looking from the top or looking from the bottom plane.
