Press CTRL+1. Under Effects, check the Superscript or Subscript box, and click OK. Tip: Although Excel doesnt have quick keyboard shortcuts to these commands, you can navigate the menus and dialogs with just the keyboard. Use Alt+HFNE for superscript, and Alt+HFNB for subscript.
In Excel, legend keys are linked to the data in the plot area, so changing the color of a legend key will also change the color of the data in the plot area. You can right-click or tap-and-hold on a legend key, and choose Format Legend, to change the color, pattern, or image used to represent the data.
Press Ctrl + 1 to open the Format Cells dialog box. Then press either Alt + E to select the Superscript option or Alt + B to select Subscript.
Tip: You can really make your legend stand out by adding an effect. Click Effects and then pick the effect that you want. A wide variety of effects is available, including shadows, glows, and soft edges. (Just be careful not to go overboard: you probably dont want to clutter the presentation of your data.)
On the Design tab, in the Data group, click Select Data. In the Select Data Source dialog box, in the Legend Entries (Series) box, select the legend entry that you want to change. Click Edit. Tip: To add a new legend entry, click Add, or to remove a legend entry, click Remove.
Select your chart and on the Chart Design tab, choose Select Data. Choose on the legend name you want to change in the Select Data Source dialog box, and select Edit. Type a legend name into the Series name text box, and click OK.
Go to the Insert tab, Symbols group, and click the Equation button. This will take you to the Design tab, where you click the Script button in the Structures group, and select the desired format, for example Superscript. Click the squares, type your values, and you are done!
Click the chart, and then click the Chart Design tab. Click Add Chart Element Legend. To change the position of the legend, choose Right, Top, Left, or Bottom. To change the format of the legend, click More Legend Options, and then make the format changes that you want.
