amp;quot; How to Prevent Faintingamp;quot; Syncope, otherwise known as fainting, is the sudden brief loss of consciousness caused by diminished blood flow to our brain, that occurs at least once in about one in five people, and in about one in ten may happen over and over, responsible for millions of emergency room visits and hospitalizations. Though sometimes fainting can be caused by heart problems, most often itamp;#39;s triggered just by standing, because blood pools in our legs, or strong emotions and are called vasovagal reactions. Under certain circumstances, such as blood donation, syncope has important medical and societal significance. More than 150,000 people experience fainting spells or near fainting spells each year when theyamp;#39;re giving blood, and so it would be good to find a way to avoid it. But if you think that has medical and societal significance, what about fainting when youamp;#39;re driving? It goes without saying that losing consciousness while driving

Perform CPR: Start CPR immediately, focusing on chest compressions in the center of the chest, away from where the pacemaker is implanted. AED Arrival and Use: Once the AED arrives, follow its instructions carefully. Turn it on and apply the pads as directed, ensuring they do not touch the pacemaker.
In conclusion, syncope in a pacemaker patient is a serious symptom requiring action. It is quite rare for its explanation to be pacemaker hardware malfunction (around 5 % of cases) and it is much more commonly due to reflex syncope involving vasodepression, which may be iatrogenic by excessive hypotensive therapy.
Pacemaker syndrome: some patients with VVI pacemakers, especially with sinoatrial (SA) rather than atrioventricular (AV) disease, will show retrograde ventriculoatrial (VA) conduction during ventricular pacing which can cause fatigue, dizziness and hypotension.
Possible complications of a pacemaker device or its surgery may include: Infection near the site in the heart where the device is placed. Swelling, bruising or bleeding, especially if you take blood thinners. Blood clots near where the device is placed.
When coming round after a faint, the person often feels awful, sickly and may vomit, or even have diarrhoea. Often there is prolonged fatigue after a faint.
Dizziness is defined as feeling like the room is spinning or you are going to pass out. This can be due to a slow or fast heart rhythm, and can indicate that your hearts electrical system is not firing properly. This could be a sign of an arrhythmia, or of a heart valve condition, Dr. Phillips says.
Syncope (SINK-a-pee) is another word for fainting or passing out. Someone is considered to have syncope if they become unconscious and go limp, then soon recover. For most people, syncope occurs once in a great while, if ever, and is not a sign of serious illness.
Once someone stops breathing, his body can no longer get oxygen and the heart muscle will die and stop beating, even with a pacemaker. Therefore, the pacemaker will not prevent death and a patient will die from his terminal illness without turning off the pacemaker.
