Answer Explanation An item difficulty index of 0.82 indicates that the item is easily answered correctly by the majority of test takers.
It is calculated using the formula P=R/T, where P is the item difficulty index, R is the number of correct responses and T is the total number of responses (which includes both correct and incorrect responses).
The discrimination index ranges from 01; closer to 1 indicates a higher discrimination value. If it is less than 0.2, it is a poor discrimination item; 0.20.29 is a fair item, 0.30.39 is a good item, and over 0.4 is a very good item with a high degree of discrimination [13].

Index of Difficulty (ID) is the measurement of difficulty of the test item and is based on the number of correct answers. The range is from 0% to 100% or more typically written as proportions as 0.0-1.00 (p-value).
The Discrimination Index is listed in decimal format and ranges between -1 and 1. What is a good value? For exams with a normal distribution, a discrimination of 0.3 and above is good; 0.6 and above is very good. Values close to 0 mean that most students performed the same on an item.
The MCQ item analysis encompass difficulty index (the percentage of students who answered the item correctly), discrimination index (discriminate between high achievers and low achievers), internal consistency reliability (Used to assess the consistency of results across items within a test).
Difficulty Index: The difficulty index is a number between 0 and 1 that indicates how hard the question is. It is the proportion of students who answered correctly.
