Sometimes, the lines on the screen may appear because of your Mac overheating. That is why if the temperature in the room youre in is too high or you hear Macs fans blowing hard, shut it down and let it cool for a while before booting it back up. Before shutting your Mac down, you may want to know its temperature.
Fixes for Spotlight indexing slow From the main Apple menu, go to System Settings Siri Spotlight. Click the Spotlight Privacy button at the bottom of the page. To reindex a particular folder or disk, drag its icon into the window of locations that Spotlight is prevented from searching.
Spotlight will now start to reindex your Mac. Depending upon the amount of stuff you have on your Macs hard drive and the speed of your Macs processor this reindexing process could take anywhere from 30 minutes to many, many hours. If youd like illustrated instructions check out this article from OS X Daily.
Rebuild the Spotlight index Choose Apple menu  System Settings. Click Siri Spotlight in the sidebar, then scroll down and click Spotlight Privacy on the right. Drag the disk or folder that you want to index again to the list of locations that Spotlight is prevented from searching.
For example, you may need to rebuild if messages appear to be missing or garbled, or if you cant find all relevant messages when you search using the Entire Message search option. In the Mail app on your Mac, select a mailbox in the sidebar. Choose Mailbox Rebuild.
Go to System Preferences Displays and make sure that the resolution and color profile are set correctly for your specific monitor. You can also try adjusting the brightness and contrast levels to see if that helps resolve the issue.
Open the Apple menu and choose System Preferences Spotlight. Then, move on to the Privacy tab and click the + button in the lower-left corner. Now, you can add the content that the Spotlight has failed to locate and open just now. That is to re-index the content in your Spotlight Search.
