Why is the header faded in Word? The faded appearance of headers footers in Words Print Layout view is deliberate. It provides a visual cue to differentiate between the page headers and the main content for the on screen view only, and will print normally.
The default setting is 0.5 inches from the top and bottom of the page. From here you can exit the header/footer text box and continue editing your document.
Footers are located in the margin area at the bottom of a page. Headers and footers generally contain document information, such as the file name, author, date created, page numbering and the like. This information is repeated on each page and thus enables the reader to easily navigate the document.
