hi folks Ive been a licensed ammeter radio operator for some 40 years now but in recent years Ive been pretty much inactive on the ham bands preferring to monitor the shortwave broadcast bands instead but there has been one thing that has dragged me back to work and the ham bands again and that is the ft 8 digital weak signal mode in fact my first ft 8 contact was made almost 12 months ago on April the 8th 2018 since that time Ive knocked up more than 1,600 QSOs on ft 8 now thats certainly not as many as some people some of whom have many thousands of QSOs over the same period but for me 1600 is more q essays in 12 months that ive made in the previous 15 years so thats certainly something and there have been a few things that Ive learnt about it along the way over the past year so Im using this time to sort of reflect on my first year of using ft 8 if you fix if youre an experienced digital operator out there now there may not be anything that you would consider earth-shatteri
