Just follow these steps: Click and drag your cursor to select the highlighted text. Go to the Home tab at the top of the screen. Look for the Font group and click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button. Pick the No Color option in the drop-down menu. The gray highlight will be gone!
Chances are that your document is set to update styles from the template upon opening. You need to change this setting. Go to the Developer tab and click on Add-Ins. If Automatically update document styles is checked, uncheck it.
Here is the guide: Open the Word software a Word file. Go to File Open. Click the Browse button and select the Word file that has the Word found unreadable content error. Expand the All Word Documents drop-down menu and choose Recover Text from Any File. Click the Open button and wait for the damaged file to open.
Select the text that you want to change. On the Home tab, in the Font group, choose the arrow next to Font Color, and then select a color. You can also use the formatting options on the Mini toolbar to quickly format text.
Step 3: In the context menu, click on the Font option to access font settings. Step 4: In the font window, click on the Text Effect option at the bottom. Step 5: Now, expand Text Outline in the Format Text Effects window. Step 6: Click on Solid Fill and, to prevent faded header text, choose the Black color.
The Solution: I concluded it had to be a setting or something I was missing and there it was in the View tab. Somehow the view changed its own Switch Mode settings to View with a Light Page Color (I presume after an app update).
The header serves as an excellent space to include consistent information throughout your document. By default, it is subtly faded, offering a purposeful way to de-emphasize focus.
