RTF documents can store a lot of formatting information like bold, italic, fonts, sizes etc. Some complex formatting available in Word cant be saved in RTF format but for most purposes, like a resume, its more than enough.
Rich Text Format (RTF) is a file format that lets you exchange text files between different word processors in different operating systems (OSes). For example, you can create a file in Microsoft Word and then open it in another word processor, such as Apple Pages or Google Docs.
The Rich Text Format (RTF) Specification is a method of encoding formatted text and graphics for easy transfer between applications. Currently, users depend on special translation software to move word-processing documents between different MS-DOS, Windows, OS/2, Macintosh, and Power Macintosh applications.
Rich Text Format (RTF) is a file format that lets you exchange text files between different word processors in different operating systems (OSes). For example, you can create a file in Microsoft Word and then open it in another word processor, such as Apple Pages or Google Docs.
An RTF file comprises a series of control words, control symbols, and groups. A control word is a sequence of letters preceded by a backslash and terminated by a space, digit, or any non-alphabetic character. Control words support the representation of the structure, formatting, and layout of document text.
The \pard means to reset the paragraph-formatting attributes to their default value, instead of inheriting them (or some of them!) from the previous paragraph. The \par means to end the current paragraph.
Short for rich text format, RTF is a mix between rich text files and plaintext files. Unlike text files, RTF files offer some formatting features like bold, italic, underline, bullets, different fonts, and text justification. However, it does not provide all of the features found in a full word processor.
