Hello and welcome to this session in this session I am going to go very basic step by step and we are going to learn XML schema or XSD from scratch Do not worry, If you have no prior knowledge on this topic, I will go step by step and you can also do a Hands-On along with me or you can just watch me and understand everything about XML schema So letamp;#39;s get started and let me first create a very simple XML here So I have created a element class and this is the start tag and an end tag, and now I have created a child element under class that is student We have a start and end tag here and under student we have first name last name and age So this is a very simple XML now an XML can be a well-formed XML and if a XML follows all the rules and syntax of a XML document that it has proper structure nesting start and end tags then Call it as a well-formed XML and we have already seen in the earlier sessions that you can use some online tools to validate your XML For example, here we are

When minOccurs=1 is contained within an XML Schema Definition (XSD), it means that the first occurrence of the element is required. The element does not need to contain any data, it just needs to be present.
The value of the minOccurs attribute is 0 means the element is optional. An element is required to appear when the value of minOccurs is 1 or more. Also value 1 is the default.
The most explicit way to represent a null value in XML is to include an empty tag set for the data item.
The value of minOccurs must be a non-negative integer. The default value for minOccurs is 1. Together with the minOccurs attribute described above, this attribute expresses multiplicity in TSD (and XML Schema) in sequence elements within a content model.
I have concluded from the above that minOccurs=0 is a definition that states the element within the XML is optional, but does not have any particular meaning. It is clear that within a SOAP message; to communicate no value for a particular element nill=true should be used within an empty element.
XML files are encoded in plaintext, so you can open them in any text editor and be able to clearly read it. Right-click the XML file and select Open With. This will display a list of programs to open the file in. Select Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).
By default minOccurs equal to 1 and nillable equal to false. That mean it cant have nil value nor it can not be removed from the xml. But you can remove the whole element from the XML (since it is minOccurs=0). The opposite of the above scenario is nillable=true but minOccurrs !=
Empty XML Elements An element with no content is said to be empty. In XML, you can indicate an empty element like this: or you can use an empty tag, like this (this sort of element syntax is called self-closing): The two forms above produce identical results in an XML parser.
