Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV. Im going to show you how to create the look of a design stamped onto leather. This works for text, clip art and any other one color, high-contrast image. I provided this leather texture that you download. Its link is in my videos description or project files. Feel free to use different leather texture if youd like. Before we begin, if you havent yet subscribed to Blue Lightning TV, make sure you click that small Subscribe button at the lower right, so you know as soon as I upload new Photoshop tutorials. Open a high-contrast, high-resolution, black and white image that youd like to use for this project. Or you can choose to type in text over the leather background instead. To place the design onto the leather background, press v to open your Move Tool and drag it onto the tab of the leather background. Without releasing your mouse or pen, drag it down and release. The simplest way to fade an entire photograph is to use opacity and solid backgrounds. Open it: Open your photo in Photoshop. Layer it: Create a new fill or adjustment layer by clicking the circle icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. Fade it: Adjust it:
In the Layer menu, select Layer Mask, then Reveal all. Use the Gradient tool to draw a line from inside the image toward the side or corner you want to fade away. Play around with this until the appropriate effect is achieved.
This is a more advanced option, ideal for when youre trying to create a blur effect or apply filters. Select it: Make a selection. Modify it: Go to Select Modify Feather or press Shift+F6. Apply it: Click OK in the dialog box to apply changes.
You need to check embed color profile in the Export dialog. With this checked, you see the color managed image. Unchecked, it displays without color management.
