Strong authentication is a way of confirming a users identity when passwords are not enough. Most companies demand proof before allowing access to digital assets. You might ask users to type in a password or respond to a quick quiz before you open the gates.
Authentication is the process of verifying a user or device before allowing access to a system or resources. In other words, authentication means confirming that a user is who they say they are. This ensures only those with authorized credentials gain access to secure systems.
Problems with Basic Authentication The username and password are sent in every request. Most configurations of Basic Authentication do not implement protection against password brute forcing. Logout functionality is not supported. Passwords cannot be easily reset.
One common example is weak or easily guessable passwords, such as 123456 or password, which can be exploited by attackers.
Poor or missing authentication schemes allow an adversary to anonymously execute functionality within the mobile app or backend server used by the mobile app. Weaker authentication for mobile apps is fairly prevalent due to a mobile devices input form factor.
Weak Authentication. Weak Authentication (WA) means cryptographic authentication between previously unknown parties without relying on trusted third parties. Does node X receive packets sent to address A?
Authentication is the process of determining whether someone or something is who or what they say they are. Authentication technology provides access control for systems by checking to see if a users credentials match the credentials in a database of authorized users or a data authentication server.
Authentication using two or more factors to achieve authentication. Factors include: (i) something you know (e.g. password/personal identification number (PIN)); (ii) something you have (e.g., cryptographic identification device, ); or (iii) something you are (e.g., biometric). See authenticator.
