In this tutorial, we demonstrate how to convert form-based PDF contracts into structured data by creating a document parser. The focus is on extracting key information from a standardized lease agreement, such as signatories' names and dates. We begin by selecting "standardized contracts" as the document type and uploading sample contracts to guide our parsing rules. Once the samples are uploaded, we create parsing rules, starting with the extraction of signatories' names by drawing a selection box around the relevant location, which automatically includes a text manipulation filter to separate the full name into first and last names. Next, we establish a rule to extract the signatories' dates of birth using a date preset and a similar selection method.
