How to extend table log

this is a very simple design of a extension table whats nice about it is that theres no mechanical parts and the leaves store on board with the table so you dont have to worry about storing them under our bed or in a closet goes together very quickly and easily the leaves are on these rails and the trenches for the rails are offset on either side so you can only put each leaf extension it will only fit on one side so if i try and put this one over here the rails will not line up with the holes the trenches so it will only fit here you do it so that the stops are on the inside of the table apron you just put it in like this best if youre going to put the top end to leave it out the second one in again lining up the uh the stops so that theyre on the back side of the apron when you put it in just keeps the leaf from pulling out all the way when you extend it okay so now the leaves are in were going to put the top down the way the top works is it floats independent of anything else

A dining table extension leaf/leaves extends the length of a table in order to accommodate additional family, friends and guests.
Drop-in/Traditional Leaf Table. This type of table is extended by sliding its ends apart, creating a gap in the center. Then, one or more table extensions (called leaves) are then placed in the gap and snugged up to create a contiguous surface.
A 3- or 4-inch table overlap makes for the most comfortable seating. For more legroom, set the benches back a few inches and add a heel kick on the floor below the table overlap.
Either a plywood sheet or an extra folding table can make your table longer and wider so it can handle all of your needs.
The general rule of thumb is to allow 24 inches of space for every person gathered around your table. Most side chairs range between 16 wide and 24 wide, with arm chairs being as wide as 30.
Overhang is how much the top projects out over the base. Four inches along the sides and ends is a safe dimension. If you go more, any details are in the aprons (beaded edges, scrollwork, moldings, etc.) will be overshadowed. On the ends of the table, you want a little more overhang than the sides for visual balance.
The downside to having extra table leaves is requiring a place to store them when youre no using them. Of course, stow away tables solve this problem by tucking the leaves discreetly beneath the tabletop, but for other versions, youll need to find a place to keep these add-ons safely stored.

A good rule of thumb is to allow 8 9 of space between your stool and the bar table. This gives you that slight slant when sitting, as opposed to a straight 90-degree angle.
