hi if youamp;#39;re into computers youamp;#39;ve probably heard of a couple file formats maybe zip if youamp;#39;re on windows and tar gz if youamp;#39;re on linux and if youamp;#39;ve done a bit of digging you might have noticed that both of these happen to use the same compression algorithm that compression algorithm is called deflate and itamp;#39;s probably the most common lossless compression algorithm used in the world so i guess letamp;#39;s start with the obvious question what is a zip file in the tar file if youamp;#39;re on windows youamp;#39;ve probably used a zip file for one of two things first of all you can take large folders and you can compress them into a single item this is obviously easier to stand over the internet and at the other end it can be extracted and you can get the full folder structure out of it thereamp;#39;s also a second reason you would zip an item and that is for compression if you have a lot of small text files they take up more space tha

The only two options that you can modify to make the tiff output file smaller is size is the Compression Method and the Resolution. If you modify the tiff. pltcfg, the best compression method for monochrome tiffs is CCITTFAX4 and the best compression method for color tiffs is LZW.
TIFF enables this by supporting a variety of different compression algorithms, such as the lossless Group 4, LZW and ZIP algorithms. Being lossless, these algorithms all enable a TIFF image to be reduced in size, with the image data being fully retrievable at a later stage (through decompression).
Both LZW and ZIP will give good results. Use either with confidence. But for 16-bit TIFF files, its clear: use ZIP.
TIFF files are very high qualitymuch higher quality than most JPEGsbut the trade-off is that theyre big. You do, however, have some options for making them smaller by using compression. When it comes to TIFF, two main compression options are availabletheyre known as LZW or ZIP.
The JPEGs lossy compression translates into files that are relatively small, with an average size of around 10MB. TIFFs, using a lossless form of compression, are much larger.
ZIP is also a lossless compression, so a TIFF that has been zipped may be okay. LZW would be more software-friendly though, as it retains the TIFF extension and most image editing software can handle them. The zipped TIFF would probably need to be unzipped to be viewed.
The first way to reduce TIFF file size is with color reduction. TIFF images support various color modes and bit depths. Choosing the appropriate color mode and bit depth can make a big difference in file size. TIFF images can be color, indexed color, grayscale, or monochrome (black and white).
