Generally, you fill out a Petition for Expungement of Records and file it with the court that heard your case. If it has been less than three years from the time your case was concluded, you will also need to file a General Waiver and Release. A filing fee of $30 may apply. This filing fee is not refundable.
California Penal Code Section 1203.4 Expungement A California expungement of criminal records under Penal Code Section 1203.4 is an option for defendants convicted of either misdemeanors or felonies that have successfully completed probation and not served time in state prison.

Remember, while many felonies might be eligible, certain serious crimes, like murder, sexual battery, and child abuse, cannot be expunged.
Another exception is something called the unit rule. Your conviction or charge cannot be expunged if even one of the charges in your case is ineligible.
