Expungement or expunction is a court-ordered process in which the legal record of an arrest or a criminal conviction is erased from your public criminal record.
Can an employer find charges that were withdrawn, dismissed or stayed? Yes. Non-convictions (i.e., acquittals, stayed charges, withdrawn or dismissed charges, and absolute or conditional discharges) still show up on most local police records checks.
To expunge is to erase or remove completely. In law, expungement is the process by which a record of criminal conviction is destroyed or sealed from state or federal record.
If your arrest was after July 1, 2013, you will need to contact the prosecutor in your case to inform you about expunging your record. The prosecutor will provide you with a form and direct you thereafter. This form may cost as much as $50.

Persons convicted of offence(s) listed in the Schedule to the Expungement Act are eligible to submit an application to the PBC to have the record(s) of their conviction(s) expunged. If the person is deceased, an appropriate representative, such as a family member or a trustee, can apply on their behalf.
If an application for expungement is approved, federal records of that conviction will be destroyed or removed. Unlike a record suspension/pardon, expungement is also available to those both living and deceased.
Expungement: Expungement wipes the slate clean by removing a record from the persons criminal history as if it never existed. Typically, people must petition the court to have their records expunged, although automatic expungement is available in some states. Most federal crimes cant be expunged.
