Include all the required documents and forms including your criminal record. You must get a copy of your criminal record from the state of Louisiana within 30 days of filing your expungement petition. Pay the $550 fee.
The only way to remove or update your information from an FCRA background check or regulated website is to contest the accuracy records or provide proof of expungement or sealing. Some employers are allowed to see certain expunged or sealed cases on an FCRA check.
(1) ELIGIBILITY. A person is eligible to petition a court to expunge a criminal history record if: (a) An indictment, information, or other charging document was not filed or issued in the case giving rise to the criminal history record.
Once automatic procedures are in place, the New Jersey courts will automatically expunge an entire record of arrests and convictions after ten years of living a crime-free life. However, serious crimes are still not eligible for expungement.
The FCRA and New Jerseys state laws govern how far back background checks can go. For jobs paying less than $75,000, there is a seven-year lookback period under the FCRA for the following types of information: Arrests not leading to convictions. Civil judgments.
Record Removal The State Police can take around 3-6 months to fully process expungements in their system. So realistically, youre looking at 9-12 months from the time you file your petition until government agencies fully clear your records.

Locate the record of your arrest or conviction. If you do not have it, request a copy from the New Jersey State Police. Complete four forms (the petition for expungement, request for hearing, expungement order, and cover letter) and file them with the court, along with a $52.50 fee and two self-addressed envelopes.
