To expunge is to erase or remove completely. In law, expungement is the process by which a record of criminal conviction is destroyed or sealed from state or federal record.
Expungement removes arrest or criminal conviction data from your criminal record. You can start the process by filling out Form SP 4-170 Request for Access and Review.
On December 14, 2023, Clean Slate Expansion (Act 36) became law in Pennsylvania. Expanding on the original Clean Slate, Pennsylvanians will now be able to seal felonies for the first time, among other important changes to the sealing law. We believe that hundreds of thousands of people will benefit from the new law.
