Understanding the Law and Expungement in Texas However, the documents are still there and can be opened with a court order. And, with nondisclosure, law enforcement agencies and all Texas professional licensing agencies will still see the records.
The total fee for a felony expungement is $300. A $50 non-refundable filing fee is due at the time the application is filed. If the application is granted, the defendant must pay an expungement fee of $250, which can be made in installment payments. The expungement cannot be completed until the full $250 has been paid.
Once expunged, such records cannot be accessed for general law enforcement or civil use. However, under certain exceptional situations, the expunged records can be searched, retrieved, and used, but this occurs only in exceptional circumstances which normally require a court order or statutory authorization.
