my name is mark walmer iamp;#39;m going to be doing a short video about the process of getting criminal records expunged or pardoned um one of the primary questions is always how do i get rid of a criminal record and whatamp;#39;s the difference between a pardon and an expungement expungements are a process of clearing very small convictions like summary offenses or juvenile records or charges that were brought that a person was never convicted of so if a charge was brought which was subsequently null crossed or dismissed or withdrawn that is not a conviction and so that can be expunged the expungement statute is very specific as to what can be expunged and when any misdemeanor or felony convictions have to be pardoned by the governor before they can be expunged so expungements are relatively quick few months from the time theyamp;#39;re started until the records cleared theyamp;#39;re filed in the county where the record was created and they only cover certain things briefly what

While most convictions cannot be removed from a persons record, Texas law does allow individuals to permanently remove information about an arrest, charge or conviction from their permanent records in certain circumstances. This is called an expunction.
The timeframe for receiving an expunction is (1) at least 180 days from the date of the arrest for an offense punish- able as a Class C misdemeanor, (2) at least one year from the date of the arrest for an offense punishable as a Class B or A misdemeanor, or (3) at least three years have elapsed for an offense
Fill out the Petition for Expungement (Petition for Expungement) Fill out the Order for Expungement (Order for Expungement) Submit all three documents to the Hays Municipal Court along with a $100 filing fee. You can do this in person at our office or via mail (105 West 12th Street, Hays, KS 67601).
Put another way, expunction means that records are erased. Sealed Criminal Records (Non-Disclosure): The sealing of criminal recordsofficially referred to as non-disclosure in Texasis a legal process that does not erase the criminal record but restricts who can access it.
How Much Will It Cost to Expunge My Criminal Record in Texas? As a general rule, it costs more to expunge a felony than a misdemeanor. The expungement of a felony will customarily cost a minimum of $1,000, but may cost upwards of $2,500 or even more. Misdemeanors can usually be expunged for $1,000 or less.
The Texas Fair Defense Projects provides free assistance to people who qualify for expunctions or nondisclosure orders. Applicants are required to submit a DPS Criminal History Report along with their application to determine eligibility.
Texas prohibits you from removing certain criminal convictions from your record. In Texas, felonies eligible for expunction include cases where you were acquitted at trial, the charges were dismissed, you received a pardon, or the State never formally charged you with a crime.
Do you need a lawyer to expunge your record? Nope. Most people can file and successfully process their own Texas expungement without an attorney.
