[Music] i just had recently started this new job and i really wanted to work for this company its a big big company um and i applied as a seasonal seasonal employee but i worked full-time hours i worked 40 hours in four days so i worked 10 hour shifts um and so when i had got the news that my grandma was not doing well and she was unresponsive and the nurse said she had 48 hours to live i immediately tried to put in a its called a case you open a case to take a personal leave and you have to select which personal leave you need like the one i chose at first was the injured family member injured sick and you need to like they need aid so i tried to select that one and you have to select a certain amount of days and i believe i dont know i selected i cant remember the dates i selected but i needed a good amount of time of time off because the funeral was out of state so so i saw uh i believe i selected 14 days which the minimum is 15. the minimum is 15. so somehow i submitted it it

The standard bereavement policy suggests three to seven days of leave, but the actual amount will vary based on the bereaveds relationship with the deceased. Most bereavement policies differentiate between the loss of a core family member versus peripheral family and friends.
How long is the typical bereavement leave? Since the law doesnt require bereavement leave, the length of leave can vary from company to company. Generally, organizations offer three to five days of time off per loss of a loved one each year.
The California Family Rights Act (CFRA) entitles employees to five days of unpaid bereavement leave. Bereavement leave (sometimes called grievance pay) is time off of work given to eligible employees after the death of a family member or a loved one.
Some countries, like France (three days of paid leave) and Spain (two to four days), have laws providing for bereavement at the national level. Others, like the U. S., India and the UK, dont legally mandate bereavement in most cases, but it is still a common practice among most employers.
Employees in Quebec are entitled to a maximum of five days off, including two paid days, for an immediate family members death or one unpaid day for the death of a grandchild, grandparent or in-law. Employees are required to take these days between the death and the funeral.
Upon the death of a family member, an employee is entitled to bereavement leave of up to five days which may be taken during the period beginning on the date of death and ending six weeks after the date of the next of funeral, burial or memorial service, whichever is later.
AB 1949 provides eligible employees with up to five days of bereavement leave upon the death of a qualifying family member. The five days of bereavement leave provided under AB 1949 are separate and distinct from the 12 weeks of leave permitted under CFRA it is an additional form of protected leave.
