Workplace. The policy of the DOT/FAA is to test all applicants and employees for illegal drug use prior to employment or appointment into a safety- or security-sensitive position.
DOT drug tests require laboratory testing (49 CFR Part 40 Subpart F) for the following five classes of drugs: Marijuana. Cocaine. Opiates opium and codeine derivatives. Amphetamines and methamphetamines. Phencyclidine PCP.
Quantity limits: 5 L (1.3 gallons) per packaging and 5 L total per passenger. Must be in unopened retail packagings. Beverages containing more than 70% alcohol (more than 140 proof) are forbidden in carry-on and checked baggage.
The FAA follows the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) drug testing regulations, and those regulations require testing for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates/opioids, phencyclidine (PCP) and amphetamines (which includes methamphetamines and MDMA (Ecstasy)).

Random Testing All drivers must partake in a random drug testing program. As of March 5, 2019, the FMCSA random testing rates are as follows: 10% of the average number of drivers in your program must be tested for alcohol. 25% of the average number of drivers in your program must be tested for drugs.
