How do I cite a source with no title in MLA style? When a source has no title, this part of your MLA reference is replaced with a description of the source, in plain text (no italics or quotation marks, sentence-case capitalization).
Source with No Title Note: For sources with no title, describe the source in brackets in place of the title. Author, A. A., Author, A. A. (Year of Publication). [Description of source] Format the remainder ing to resource type. Smith, F.
For untitled images, include a description of the image, in square brackets, where the title would usually go. If there is no publication date, add n.d. in place of the date, and add the date that you accessed the image.
No Title. For sources without a title, describe the source in brackets. This will not impact your in-text citations.
Untitled sources (e.g. some images) are usually cited using a short descriptive text in place of the title. In APA Style, this description appears in brackets: [Chair of stained oak]. In MLA and Chicago styles, no brackets are used: Chair of stained oak.
Type your title in upper and lowercase letters centered in the upper half of the page. The title should be centered and written in boldface. APA recommends that your title be focused and succinct and that it should not contain abbreviations or words that serve no purpose. Your title may take up one or two lines.
Ideally, the shortened title should use the first two or three words of the original title, but in some cases, these first few words may not be descriptive enough. In this instance, the shortened title should utilize key words from the title that can help readers identify the correct source on the Works Cited list.
Go to Insert Header Footer. On the top right side of the document, select Options Remove Headers Footers.
