Here I have a 16 gig flashdrive, but even if I delete all the files fromit, I hit command amp;#39;Iamp;#39; and we see that some of thespace is still not available, and thatamp;#39;s because flash drives have a hidden trash file that isfull of deleted data. To purge that file, open your finder, go to amp;#39;applications,amp;#39; expand amp;#39;utilities,amp;#39;double-click amp;#39;disk utility,amp;#39; and select your flash drive. Hit amp;#39;erase,amp;#39; and under amp;#39;format,amp;#39; select amp;#39;MS DOS FAT,amp;#39; and thatamp;#39;ll format your drive toMS-DOS FAT32, which is compatible with both Mac and Windows. Click amp;#39;erase,amp;#39; give it a minute or so, and click amp;#39;done.amp;#39; And here you see that most of the space has been recovered, though on every flash drive thereamp;#39;s a portion that canamp;#39;t be deleted because itamp;#39;s reserved for running firmware.
