The process of erasing or deleting regions of multiple shapes is very similar to merging, except it works in erase mode. Step 2: Activate Shape Builder Tool (Shift + M), Click and drag while holding the Alt key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS). A minus sign appears right next to the pointer the hotkey is pressed.
There are two ways of erasing portions of shapes in docHub Illustrator. First, you can manipulate the anchor points in the shape to delete large or small portions from the edges and corners. Secondly, you can use the Eraser Tool to erase parts of a shape much the same way you would use a pencil eraser on paper.
Activate the Select tool, select one or more shapes, and press the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can also use the Delete Object toolbar button.

As the name implies, The Eraser tool is primarily used for rubbing out mistakes. Eraser mode and Eraser Shape are both drop-down menus with multiple options. For Eraser Shape, we can select rectangular or oval erasers in various sizes.
Click the Eraser tool or press Shift + E . Drag over the area that you want to remove. Double-click the Eraser tool to open the Eraser panel. To customize the erasers angle, roundness, and size, double-click the Eraser tool and set the options in the Eraser dialog.
