Problem: Youre unable to select and change the text in the footer at the bottom of your slides. Solution: If you cant directly edit footer text, its probably the case that the footer placeholder has been turned off in Slide Master view.
How do you unlock the footer in PowerPoint? Click the Header Footer button in the center of the ribbon. Uncheck the box to the left of Footer. Click Apply to All.
Remove all headers and footers Go to Insert Header or Footer, and then select Remove Header or Remove Footer. If your document has more than one section, repeat this process for each section.
Delete a footer On the Insert tab, select Header Footer. On the Slide tab, clear the Footer box. Select Apply to All to remove the footer from all slides in the presentation. Otherwise, select Apply to only remove the footer from the currently selected slide.
To edit the PowerPoint footer, go to View SlideMaster, and go to Insert Header Footer. While you can also edit the footer directly via the Insert tab, its best to do it in Slide Master to make more extensive edits to your presentation layout.
Remove a footnote Go to the slide with the footnote you want to remove. (If you applied a footnote to all slides, go to any slide.) On the Insert tab, click Header Footer. Clear the Footer check box.
If youve added footer information (such as slide numbers or the date) to your slides but they still dont appear, the likely problem is that footers are currently turned off in Slide Master view.
On the Insert tab, click Header Footer. On the Slide tab, select Footer, type the number or symbol you added in step 1, and then type the text that you want to appear in the footnote at the bottom of your slide. Note: The Preview area above highlights the area on the slide where your footnote will appear.
