You dont need to include your date of graduation on your resume unless youre a recent graduate or still in school.
Is leaving dates off a resume ever OK? Leaving dates off of some older jobs on your resume is generally an acceptable practice to avoid age discrimination. My rule of thumb is that if the professional experience or education happened more than 15 to 20 years ago, lose the date.
When to withdraw your application entirely. This usually wont be necessary, but if you fudged the dates on your resume by a lot and you dont think you can explain it away as a mistake, its better to withdraw from consideration before you get caught.
Leaving small jobs off a resume is fine when they dont add anything to the new position, but if the skills and experience align with the new job, include them on your resume. Remember this applies to both hard and soft skills, dont overlook the value of teamwork, leadership or adherence to deadlines.
Generally you should list your work experience in reverse chronological order and add only months and years of your time on the job. Employment dates expressed in years only is also acceptable and beneficial, if you have short gaps in employment, or if you were at a certain job for an extended period of time.
Omitting dates from a resume is usually done by choosing the functional style resume. Using a functional resume to hide employment dates has been used by thousands of job switchers, and those with big employment gaps.
As a general rule, youll always want to include the expected graduation date on your resume if you can obtain a realistic timeframe for when you believe youll finish.
When listing your unfinished college on a resume, remember: Mention your degree program, school name, and expected graduation date if youre continuing your education. If youre not going to finish your education, find an option that puts your incomplete education in the best possible light.
