Data retention and destruction clauses are legal provisions that specify how long and where the provider will store your data, how and when they will delete it, and what evidence they will provide to confirm the deletion.
Here is a plain English explanation of the Return or Destruction of Confidential Information clause: - When the Agreement ends, both parties must return or destroy any Confidential Information they have from the other party. - They must do this promptly after the Agreement terminates or expires.
Data destruction is the process of destroying data stored on tapes, hard disks and other forms of electronic media so that it is completely unreadable and cannot be accessed or used for unauthorized purposes.
A data destruction policy is a set of written principles that guide how to properly dispose of information and the mode of disposal for each data category. The hardware disposal and data destruction policy aims to protect data from unauthorized access by controlling who gets to handle the disposal process.
What Are the Different Data Destruction Types? Deleting/Reformatting. As we mentioned above, deleting a file from an electronic device may remove it from a file folder, but the data remains on the hard drive or memory chip. Wiping. Overwriting Data. Erasing. Degaussing. Physical Destruction. Shredding.
