The PURGE BINARY LOGS statement deletes all the binary log files listed in the log index file prior to the specified log file name or date. Deleted log files also are removed from the list recorded in the index file, so that the given log file becomes the first in the list.
To delete all binary log files, use RESET MASTER. To move to a new log file (for example if you want to remove the current log file), use FLUSH LOGS before you execute PURGE LOGS .
To disable binary logging, you can specify the --skip-log-bin or --disable-log-bin option at startup. If either of these options is specified and --log-bin is also specified, the option specified later takes precedence. When binary logging is disabled, the logbin system variable is set to OFF.
Two formulas are logically equivalent if they are satisfied by exactly the same set of assignments. A clause of length one is a unit clause, and a clause of length two is a binary clause.
If you are using MySQL Replication, you should not delete old binary log files on the source until you are sure that no replica still needs to use them.
The following command will delete all logs till now. mysql PURGE BINARY LOGS BEFORE now(); You will not need to do purge logs manually, logs older than 10 days will be purged automatically by the MySQL server if you add the following lines in the MySQL configuration file. Done!
