Razing. After some turns, razed cities will become City Ruins. Population by one every turn. After some turns, depending on the size of the city, it will disappear and City Ruins will be left in its place.
A city isnt conquered until its health is reduced to zero by a Melee, Naval Melee, Anti-Cavalry, Light Cavalry, or Heavy Cavalry unit. Ranged, Naval Ranged, and Siege units cant conquer a city on their own; their attacks will only ever reduce a citys health to one.

In general, fans should almost always try to keep the cities that they capture in Civilization 6, as they are worth, at the very least, the Production associated with building a Settler.
The earliest known city is atalhyk, a settlement of some 10,000 people in southern Anatolia that existed from approximately 7400 BCE to 5200 BCE. Hunting, agriculture and animal domestication all played a role in the society of atalhyk.
But besides Siege units, there are also other, arguably more effective ways to overcome walls: namely, the Battering Ram and the Siege Tower support units. Having one of the two will remove the damage penalty your normal units suffer on either the wall or the city.
