There are two ways of erasing portions of shapes in docHub Illustrator. First, you can manipulate the anchor points in the shape to delete large or small portions from the edges and corners. Secondly, you can use the Eraser Tool to erase parts of a shape much the same way you would use a pencil eraser on paper.
Use Tools - Modify - Divide to cut up the circle at the intersection points with the tangents and then delete the unwanted part of the circle.
Erasing or retouching photos from the editor Click the photo you want to edit. On the editor toolbar, click Edit photo. Go to Effects, then select Magic Eraser under Magic Studio. Go to the Click tab and click any object/s on the photo. You may also select Brush tab to brush over an object.

Hold down Alt or Option and youll see a minus sign next to the icon for the tool. Click the area you want to delete. To remove the bottom piece, you can use similar technique. Draw a shape over the area you want to delete.
Click and hold the Knife tool in the Tools panel and select the Scissors tool. Click in two places on the inner circle as shown. Select the cut segment with the Selection tool and press Delete to remove it. Repeat this step to cut and delete a small segment from the outer circle.
