Quick tip: Deleting a user from your Windows 10 machine will permanently delete all of their associated data, documents, and more. If needed, ensure the user has a backup of any important files they want to keep before you delete.
Make sure the User Account is deleted first before trying to delete the Profile in the USERS folder. Once the Account is deleted, restart, go back and try to delete the folder. Make another Windows User Account, make it a Member of Administrators, log out, log into the new Account and delete the User Profile that way.
How to Delete an Administrator Account in Settings Click the Windows Start button. This button is located in the lower-left corner of your screen. Click on Settings. Then choose Accounts. Select Family other users. Choose the admin account you want to delete. Click on Remove. Finally, select Delete account and data.
The deactivate option is commonly used when an employee may return to the company at a future time or if an employee leaves the company and their past actions should be preserved in the account. Deactivate is a temporary option. You can reactivate or delete the user in the future.
What is the difference between disabling and deleting your account? Disabling your account means your account is put on hold. You can reactivate it by logging in and following the prompts.
Select Start Settings Accounts Other users. Select the persons name or email address, then select Remove. Read the disclosure and select Delete account and data.
To delete Windowss built-in Administrator account, right-click the Administrator name and select Delete. Close Registry Editor and restart your computer. When you open the Local Users and Groups window, youll find the built-in Administrator account was deleted successfully.
Tip: The main difference between deactivating and deleting a user is that a deactivated user can be reactivated while deleting a user is permanent. Keep in mind that if a user is deleted from the account and then needs to be added back to the account, they will be added as a brand new user.
Click Users to open the panel. Press Unlock in the top right corner and type in your password when prompted. Select the user that you want to delete and press the - button, below the list of accounts on the left, to delete that user account. Each user has their own home folder for their files and settings.
