Poetry is what is lost in translation, said the poet Robert Frost; it is perhaps the most famous quote on translating poetry. Well, actually he said it a little differently: I could define poetry this way: it is that which is lost out of both prose and verse in translation.
Translation is that which transforms everything so that nothing changes. God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice. A great age of literature is perhaps always a great age of translations.
Translation Quotes I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. Translation is like a woman. Poetry is what gets lost in translation. Without translation, I would be limited to the borders of my own country. Translation is at best an echo. Translation is an act of recreation.
If you read a work that has been translated and you directly quote from it in your paper, you would place quotation marks around the quoted passage just as for any other direct quotation citation. Although the work has been translated, the translation exists in a distinct, retrievable form.
Translation is more than just changing the words from one language to another. Translation builds bridges between cultures. It allows you to experience cultural phenomena that would otherwise be too foreign and remote to grasp through your own cultural lens.
Translation is that which transforms everything so that nothing changes. No glass renders a mans form and likeness so true as his speech. Never trust the translation or interpretation of something without first trusting its interpreter. Every act of communication is a miracle of translation.
How is a quote for a translation calculated? The combination of the languages, from what source language was the document written, and to which language will it be translated. The file format (Word, Excel, HTML, etc.) The number of words. The area of expertise: generalised, specialised, technical, etc.
