Using a heat press, set to 320 degrees, press the garment for at least 40 seconds. Repeat the process until your entire design has been heated. You can also use a household iron.
Which Is Best for You? If you are customizing with single colors or creating smaller quantities of customized apparel, heat transfer vinyl will be the best solution. Its easy to cut designs and apply them with a heat press, but it can also be more time-consuming since you need to weed the vinyl and carefully place it. HTV vs. Heat Transfer Paper: Which Is Better For You? - Heat Press Zone heatpresszone.com blog htv-vs-heat-tran heatpresszone.com blog htv-vs-heat-tran
A heat press is a great tool and has tons of uses. Many screen printers start by heat pressing transfers onto t-shirts, tote bags, or other garments. Heat presses can be used to cure garments, and are great for printing at live events.
HOW LONG WILL HEAT TRANSFERS LAST? With proper care of your garment (wash inside out on a cool wash, dry inside out on a washing line and iron inside out - no tumble drying or dry cleaning) the manufacturer recommends around 50 washes for the vinyl heat transfers, which do eventually crack and fade. Screen Printing vs Heat Transfer Printing - Pic a Shirt pic-a-shirt.com aboutourprinting pic-a-shirt.com aboutourprinting
Cons: Expensive set-up costs. Cannot layer colors because the t-shirt will become bulky and heavy. Each image needs to be cut precisely to eliminate the extra paper you do not want to print onto the image. This can be very time consuming. Pros and Cons of Screen Printing and Heat Press | Graham Sporting Goods grahamsg.com blog post pros-and-cons-of-s grahamsg.com blog post pros-and-cons-of-s
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCREEN PRINTED TRANSFERS Pre-heat Heat Press to 325 degrees. Pre-press garment for 10 seconds to release moisture. Place screen printed side of transfer face down and on top of garment. DO NOT COVER WITH TEFLON. Press with Medium/High Pressure for 7 Seconds. Peel HOT.
When it comes to printing quality, there are a couple ways to look at it: durability and resolution. While heat-pressed items yield a higher resolution image to start with, the image wont last as long as one on a screen-printed item.
Screen printing generally offers superior quality and durability compared to heat transfer. The ink used in screen printing penetrates the fabric, resulting in vibrant, long-lasting designs. Heat transfer, on the other hand, can fade or peel over time, particularly with frequent washing. Heat Transfer Vs Screen Printing: Which Is Better?
