this is part two of our series on microsoft access tables and in this video were going to be looking at validation rules now what is a validation rule well when validation means we want to make sure that people type in the correct information into a table we want to prevent errors not catch them so a way to do that is to have a validation rule and that means that the user cant put incorrect data into a field so the two aspects to take note of the one is the rule which is where we specify what values are acceptable for this field so we give it a range of what this is what we want in this field so although we might say its a number we only want these particular numbers okay and then theres the validation text and that is what must be displayed if you violate the rule now you dont have to put in a validation text itll just put up a default error message but if you want to specify a nice little message where you can give the user some help about what they should be entering um you ca
