if your hearts stopped or you stopped breathing would you want CPR for a lot of us our initial response to that question may be of course why wouldnt I want to be brought back to life and yet many patients choose whats called a do not resuscitate order a DNR why do some people choose DNR why others choose resuscitation also known as full code this video is designed to help you understand the difference between full code DNR and a third term DNI which stands for do not intubate understanding these options for your code status will allow you to make informed decisions about whats best for you or your loved one it will also help you clearly communicate your wishes to your physician and care team so that they are able to provide the best medical care possible while respecting your wishes television shows and movies have conditioned us to believe that full code is painless and highly effective often the patient comes alive in the middle of CPR then begin speaking and seems perfectly norm

A do-not-resuscitate (DNR) order is a legal document that means a person has decided not to have cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) attempted on them if their heart or breathing stops.
For example, someone with terminal cancer might write that they do not want to be put on a respirator (breathing machine) if they stop breathing. This action can increase their control over their death and their peace of mind, and eventually reduce their suffering. A DNR order is allowed for any reason. Any adult can request a DNR, including healthy adults. People most likely to use them are those who know in advance that their chance of surviving CPR is very low and/or they dont want to spend their last days on life support.
How to Write a DNR Form Write the name of the patient and then state where you or that person lives. Make sure to make the requests known, that CPR, or another treatment, is to be withheld. Acknowledgement: The people who are in charge of the patient must sign the document. Free Printable DNR Form | PDF Word - LawDistrict LawDistrict dnr LawDistrict dnr
A DNR is a request not to have CPR if your heart stops or if you stop breathing. You can use an advance directive form or tell your doctor that you dont want to be resuscitated. Question: What happens if you resuscitate someone with a DNR? If you attempt resuscitation on a person who has a valid DNR order, you open yourself up to lawsuit by the estate (read: family) of the person with the DNR order, especially if the attempt is successful and they are indeed brought back to life.
