[Music] in this tutorial we are going to build a google apps script that will allow us to append list items paragraphs and table cell items in a google doc using a drop-down menu item so how do we do all this so imagine ive got a to-do list here and i want to add a date time stamp every time i completed a task in my to-do list so i can click on one of these to do this item and hit check box dts or date timestamp menu item and then click the add dts submenu item and youll see that the date and the timestamp with my email address has been added i can click on another one and do the same thing and once im done i could check the item alternatively i might put this to say that ive read the function here and i understand it by clicking on my date timestamp another thing i could put in is a date at end time stem at the end of my diary entry so i could click anywhere in this diary entry paragraph and click add date timestamp so how does it all work go into tools and get into the google ap

Yes, It is possible to timestamp in Google Docs, but not in the same versatile way that it is in Google Sheets. NOTE: the above linked script runs from a custom menu. this allow you to position the cursor where you want the timestamp to be applied.
Place the cursor where you want to insert a special character. Click Insert on the menu bar. Select Special characters. A dialog box opens up, where you can select a special character.
In a Google Docs file, position the cursor beside the text or heading you want to highlight. From the Insert menu, select Special characters. Pick a category and a type. Then click on a symbol to create a unique design.
You can add text or image watermarks, which appear behind your text and will repeat on every page of your document. You can also edit or delete watermarks in your document. Important: This feature isnt available in documents that are in pageless format.
The first option is to go to Insert menu and select Date option. This will show you a calendar or date picker from which you can pick any date from the past, future or todays date. You can also click on Today link showing below the calendar to insert current date in Google Docs.
Open Special Characters Library Faster Instead, use the Alt + I + C key combo to get to the Insert Special Characters box faster. If you use Google Docs on a Mac, the key combo gets slightly longer Ctrl + Option + I + C.
Use the formula =TEXT( NOW(), hh:mm:ss ) to show the current time. If you only want to show the timestamp and not the date, you can modify the formula using the TEXT() function. Copy and paste or type =TEXT( NOW(), hh:mm:ss ) into the cell where you want to display the time.
Special characters like em dashes or section marks () Go to Insert Symbol More Symbols. Go to Special Characters. Double-click the character that you want to insert.
Keyboard Shortcut to Insert TimeStamp Control + Shift + : (hold the Control and Shift keys and press the colon key). Note that these keyboard shortcuts would insert a static date and time value. This means that if you make any changes in the worksheet or close and open it, these date/time values will not change.
In Google Docs and Slides, you can also add special characters, like arrows, shapes, or accent marks.
