No, each pixel is represented by multiple dots*. See unlike a monitor your average offset/laser printer can only make dots of the colors you have inks for.
A dot is the smallest unit of a raster image. The dot size is defined by the range between the top of the longest character and the lowest point of the deepest character.
An image meant to publish at 3.333 inches (82 mm single column width) and 300 DPI is roughly 1000 pixels wide (3.333 inches 300 DPI = 1000 pixels).
Pixels Per inch (PPI) refers to the number of pixels contained in a linear inch of a digital image file. Dots Per Inch (DPI) Refers to how many dots of ink are dropped down in the printing of a file. Often the two terminologies are interchanged; in conversation around file creation PPI is still called DPI.
PPI stands for Pixels Per Inch and DPI for Dots Per Inch so a pixel is not a dot. Pixels relate to digital images as seen on your monitor and captured in your camera. Dots relate to the droplets of ink your printer spits out of the print head and its ability to print those images in detail.

A pixel is represented by a dot or square on a computer monitor display screen. Pixels are the basic building blocks of a digital image or display and are created using geometric coordinates.
Its actually pretty simple: LCDs are made up of pixels, and pixels are made up of dots. On most LCDs, there are three dots per pixel: one each of green, red, and blue. This is how its been for a long time, before pixels were really pixels and before LCDs were common.
