The temple of Ramesses II, so lets go take a look. The Great Temple of Abu-Simbel, built by Ramesses II, is one of the most stupendous creations of Egyptian architecture, this is farther up the Nile, farther into Nubia in the southernmost of Egypt, and this temple was entirely excavated out of the solid rock. Cave temples are very rare in Egypt, temples were usually built structures, but just in this area of Nubia they tend to be more common. So here Ramesses is adapting to the typical architecture of the region. An entrance forecourt leads to the imposing faade formed as a pylon, measuring 36 meters wide and 32 meters high, immediately in front of which are four rock-cut seated colossal statues of Ramesses II, over 20 meters high. The processional spaces that we had leading up to the sanctuary in the other Egyptian temples are all interiorized here. The pylon itself becomes a carving into the living rock of the cliff, its incredible. So you look at the pylon, or the

For towing, we'd say 1,200 degrees is a safe number, with occasional spikes of up to 1,400 degrees when climbing grades being an acceptable risk. The concept of EGT is analogous to putting something in the oven.
Either way, high exhaust gas temperatures put the engine, exhaust valves, and turbochargers under a tremendous amount of strain and can lead to component failure. This is why we monitor EGT-to keep things from melting, cracking, and breaking.
For towing, we'd say 1,200 degrees is a safe number, with occasional spikes of up to 1,400 degrees when climbing grades being an acceptable risk. The concept of EGT is analogous to putting something in the oven. You can put your hand in a hot oven for a second or two, and nothing will happen.
The most common method is using the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) gauge, which is the direct indicator of the fuel-to-air ratio in the engine. When you decide to start leaning the engine, pull the mixture back slowly. As the EGT temperature climbs, it will eventually slow down.
What is an exhaust gas temperature sensor? As its name suggests, the exhaust gas temperature sensor measures the temperature of the exhaust gas. This information is then relayed back to the engine control unit or ECU, where appropriate action is taken.
An exhaust gas temperature gauge (EGT gauge or EGT sensor) is a meter used to monitor the exhaust gas temperature of an internal combustion engine in conjunction with a thermocouple-type pyrometer. EGT gauges are found in certain cars and aeroplanes.
EGT is an indication of how hot the combustion process is in the cylinders, and the amount of “afterburning” that is occurring in the exhaust manifold. EGT is also directly related to the air/fuel ratio. The richer the air/fuel ratio in a diesel, the higher the EGT will be.
How Hot Is Too Hot for EGT's? Based on our own experience in the sled pulling and drag racing world, we can definitely say that any engine running at 1,800 to 2,000 degrees EGT for more than a second or two should be rebuilt every season and may incur turbocharger, cylinder head, or piston damage during the season.
EGT Probe Installation Methods The probe should be installed in the exhaust manifold closest to the exhaust outlet at the head (this is the closest physical location to the exhaust valve). EGT probe placement close to the exhaust valve isn't always easy.
Commonly, diesel performance enthusiasts will ask: “What's a safe EGT?” The short answer is anything sustained below 1350 degrees Fahrenheit is acceptable by most OEM standards so long as your other engine temperatures remain within safe boundaries.
