The Right Way to Provide Your References to an Employer Name. Current Job/Position. Company. Phone Number. Email Address. Reference Description: Write one sentence explaining how you know or have worked with this person, where, when, and for how long. (Check out the example below to see what this looks like in action.)
Unless otherwise requested, use work addresses and phone numbers. For each reference list the name, title, company or organization, company address, and work phone number. If the persons title or company does not indicate your relationship, include in parenthesis after name (e.g., former supervisor).
This number should be used by a verifier organization that needs credit or employment reference information, such as a financial institution seeking salary information to process a loan or an apartment manager seeking employment verification. The number is 1-800-EMP-AUTH (1-800-367-2884).
