Those are TrueType fonts, having a limited number of characters. But on the other hand, talking about OpenType fonts, They may have unlimited numbers of characters, but not necessary. In many fonts, especially paid ones, you get extra alternate characters, alternate ligatures and many extra things. So ahh In yesterdays class, I discussed Emphasis and Contrast.
