OpenOffice's "FontWork" functions are most analogous to Word's "WordArt". FontWork adds effects to the text in the selected drawing object, including shadows. You can also change the shape of the text baseline. The FontWork command is only available for objects that contain text.
To insert an existing object: Select Insert > Object > OLE object from the main menu. In the Insert OLE Object dialog box, select Create from file. ... To insert the object as a link, select the Link to file checkbox. ... Click Search, select the required file in the file picker window, then click Open.
Creating drawing objects Click in the document where you want the drawing to be anchored. ... Select the tool from the Drawing toolbar. ... Move the cross-hair pointer to the place in the document where you want the graphic to appear and then click-and-drag to create the drawing object.
Free of charge But thanks to contributions of time and money, from individuals and companies (large and small), OpenOffice is free for you to use today. Furthermore, the open-source license used by OpenOffice means this freedom can never be taken away.
The tools in this part of the Drawing toolbar are: Select: selects objects. ... Line: draws a straight line. Arrow: draws a straight line ending with an arrowhead. ... Rectangle: draws a rectangle. ... Ellipse: draws an ellipse. ... Text: creates a text box with text aligned horizontally.
In general, if you need to create complex drawings, it is recommended to use OpenOffice.org Draw or another drawing program. To begin using the drawing tools, select View > Toolbars > Drawing. The drawing toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen.
Move the mouse pointer over the selected image and press Control+C to copy the image to the clipboard. Switch to the target document. Click to place the cursor where the graphic is to be inserted. Press Control+V to insert the image.
Click one of the toolbar's shapes to turn your cursor into a crosshair. Click inside your document, hold down your left mouse button and drag the cursor down towards the right to draw your shape. Release the mouse button when the shape reaches the size you desire.
Click in the OOo document where you want the image to appear. Choose Insert > Picture > From File from the menu bar. On the Insert Picture dialog, navigate to the file to be inserted, select it, and click Open.
