to enter a date that will update automatically when you open a file you can use the today function I type equals today open and close brackets press Enter it shows the current date and you can format that when I open it tomorrow it would show tomorrows date to get the current date and time use the now function equals NO w open and close bracket press enter and theres the date and the time to enter a static date that wont change use the keyboard shortcut control semicolon so Ill press the control key type a semicolon when I press ENTER theres the current date to get the current time press control with the shift key and then type a semicolon and thats the current time if you want both of those in a cell you could do them one after the other so ctrl semicolon space control shift semicolon for the current date and time for more excel tips and tutorials please visit my contexture website at wwlp.com

To combine text with a date or time, use the TEXT function and the (ampersand) operator.
Position the insertion point within the header or footer at the place you want the date to appear. Click on the Insert Date tool on the Header and Footer toolbar. Word inserts todays date. Click on Close.
Click the Print Settings tab. Under Headers and Footers, click Header or Footer. In the Insert AutoText box, click Field. In the Select a Field or Group dialog box, select the field containing the date or time you want to appear in the header or footer.
The most common way for writing dates in English is to use day/month/year format (also denoted as DD/MM/YYYY). For example, if you were writing the date for the fifth of January , 2022, you would write it as 05/01/22.
Add Date Formatting Select the cell where you want the combined data. Type the formula, with text inside double quotes, and the date inside the TEXT function. For example, to show the full weekday name, for the current date: =Today is TEXT(TODAY(),dddd) Press Enter to complete the formula.

If youd like to see both the date and time in the cell, simply change the cell formatting as follows: Format Cells Date, and then scroll down to the format that displays both the date and time.
